Ecolean - a lighter approach to packaging

Lightweight packaging is the approach Ecolean has taken to saving nature's resources. Saving resources is no longer just a matter of looking at the waste end of a package life cycle. Equally important are the resources used at its beginning. Ecolean uses less raw material from the start. Our packages are made from a thin plastic film, part plastic (PE and PP) and part chalk (40% by weight) and weighs approximately 40-50% of conventional liquid food cartons and bottles.

The Ecolean material is not biodegradable. The environmental benefits of the package is the minimal material used, see the Environment pages for more information.

We do not sell the Calymer granules or film, we sell Ecolean packaging systems - packages and filling machines. It is important to be involved in as much as possible of the value chain to ensure a high quality product to the industrial end-user and to the consumer.

No. In order to focus our activities both in the area of Marketing & Sales, but also R&D we have decided to concentrate only on food related business.

We use Franklin Associates in the US.

We have our own sales offices in six countries. From here, we conduct direct sales to all European countries.
We have regular sales of Ecolean products to approximately 30 countries.

This is of course dependent on a number of factors such as product, hygiene conditions, cold chain efficiency, distributions systems etc.

The recycling directives differ from country and municipalities but the packages can be recycled as energy or material.

Ecolean packages is only to be used in Ecolean filling machines.

The filling machines are designed and produced by Ecolean in Helsingborg.
